Introduction

Each year, DSTO offers a limited number of long term scholarship opportunities of up to 12 months in length.

The primary objective of the program is to support the education of promising tertiary students by providing them with a means by which they can satisfy the formal requirement of their degree that they complete an Industry Placement. the principle aim of the Placement is to provide students with an opportunity to:

  • Better understand the complexity of the work environment (for example, relationships with colleagues, an employer's expectations and working to real deadlines)

Successful applicants undertake a research project, working onsite at a DSTO laboratory under the supervision of science and technology staff, and a tax free stipend (up to $32,708).

In limited circumstances, further funding for relocation may be available. Students should take into account the stipend amount when considering the location of projects.
