Introduction
Each year DSTO offers a limited number of scholarships over the University summer vacation period. Successful applicants undertake a 12-week research project at a DSTO establishment and will receive a tax-free stipend of $4,050 in 2009/10. Further funding for travel and/or accommodation is not available. Students should take into account the stipend amount when considering the location of projects.
The primary objective of the scholarship is to provide promising tertiary students with a means by which they may engage in and gain experience in research during the summer vacation period. The scholarship provides an opportunity for the students to further develop their skills and knowledge for educational purposes in a research environment pertinent to their tertiary studies.
This year there are 68 scholarships available throughout DSTO sites including:
- Adelaide
- Melbourne
- Brisbane
- Sydney
- Canberra
- Stirling, Western Australia
- Scottsdale, Tasmania.
A list of project details, including locations is available for information only by opening the attachment on the right hand side of this page.
Please note that students must meet certain scholarship requirements to qualify.
Applications open around May each year for projects undertaken during the following summer break.
