Joining forces with AADI

Collaboration

Date:
7 April, 2005

DSTO has joined forces with a new private company launched by the Victorian Government to expand the aerospace industry in Australia.

Minister for Innovation, John Brumby, launched Australian Aerospace and Defence Innovations (AADI) Ltd at the Avalon Airshow in March, 2005. AADI will work with DSTO to leverage its technology development and intellectual property for Australia’s aerospace and defence sectors. AADI will be based at the Fishermans Bend aerospace precinct in Melbourne.

Mr Brumby said AADI would initially focus on increasing Australia’s participation in the JSF program and the next generation of passenger jets such as the Airbus A380 and the Boeing 787.

“Although AADI is based in Victoria, it will have a nationwide focus and is now exploring collaborative agreements with other states and territories, the Commonwealth and New Zealand.

“The Victorian Government has provided $700 000 in seed funding for this initiative, DSTO is making an in-kind contribution by housing AADI at its Fishermans Bend site and the City of Melbourne will provide infrastructure and administrative support.
