New COE in Autonomous Vehicle Systems
Collaboration
- Date:
- 14 June, 2005
DSTO and the University of Sydney's Australian Centre for Field Robotics (ACFR) have signed an agreement to form a new Centre of Expertise (COE) in Defence Autonomous and Uninhabited Vehicle Systems.
The new COE will focus on the development and application of uninhabited vehicle systems for defence applications. DSTO's Dr Nanda Nandagopal siad the three-year agreement would extend the existing collaboration between DSTO and ACFR.
"Our two organisations have worked together productively for about a year on unmanned systems through DSTO's Automation of the Battlespace initiative," Dr Nandagopal said.
The collaborative effort will enable a broad range of projects to be undertaken with a primary focus on multi-vehicle sytems and the integration of uninhabited air, ground, and undewater vehicles systems.
