DSTO working with YTEK

Collaboration

Date:

DSTO has established a successful relationship with Melbourne-based engineering company, YTEK, in the development of new concepts and products for individual and command team training.

YTEK

YTEK has been providing services to DSTO since 1995. Its software expertise spans the
domains of distributed computing, modelling & simulation, intelligent agents and real-time
3D graphics.

One of the main areas of cooperation has been the Air Defence Ground Environment Simulator (ADGESIM) project. ADGESIM is a suite of software tools that enables battlespace management training to be planned, executed and evaluated to achieve individual and command team training.
ADGESIM supports simulation, sensor modelling, and after-action review for training and operational evaluation, and is currently deployed at RAAF School of Air Warfare (SAW) and RAAF Surveillance and Control Training Unit (SACTU).

ADGESIM is currently also used in DSTO’s modelling and simulation of manned and unmanned maritime aerial systems in support of SHARP, a project AIR7000 program.
ADGESIM is being commercialised by YTEK under a DSTO agreement. This arrangement aims to ensure that Defence, through DSTO, continues to benefit from the application of this technology through sales royalties.

Notably, YTEK also assists DSTO on coalition training experimentation exercises, such as Exercise Black Skies, a virtual training exercise in support of a live-flying RAAF exercise, Exercise Pitch Black.

As a dedicated member of DSTO’s support infrastructure YTEK believes its long and growing association with DSTO has become a mutually valuable technical partnership.
