- DSAN
The purpose of DSAN is to provide to industry information on DSTO research interests, help industry researchers connect to appropriate DSTO personnel and for DSTO to find out about industry R&D that may have defence applications.
DSTO welcomes opportunities to collaborate with SMEs and other S&T organisations undertaking research that may be of interest to Defence. DSTO also seeks to investigate new and emerging technologies developed by industry.
DSTO mainly concentrates on the early parts of the technology development cycle (TRLs 1-5) but engages with industry to develop technologies to higher TRLs. See the attached Technology Readiness Levels document.
In collaborating with Industry, DSTO has the following objectives:
- To assist industry to become better able to support the capabilities needed to defend Australia and contribute to national wealth.
- To enhance Defence capabilities by working with industry, universities, and other research organisations.
DSTO engagement with industry occurs through a range of commercial and collaborative arrangements that build strong working relationships, provide industry access to DSTO research, facilities and expertise, and allow the transfer to industry of DSTO intellectual property for commercialisation through the Business and Commercialisation Office.
