International Award for DSTO Scientist

DSTO scientist Dr Simon Barter has won the prestigious ICAF/Emerald Award for Outstanding Paper presented at the recent 25th Symposium of the International Committee on Aeronautical Fatigue, held in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Dr Barter's paper titled Marker loads for qualitative fractography of fatigue cracks in aerospace alloys was co-authored with the Netherland Research Laboratory's Russell Wanhill and another DSTO staff member Loris Molent.

Given the highly quality of the presentations from 21 countries at the symposium, the award represents a significant achievement for Dr Barter and reinforces DSTO's world class reputation in aircraft structural integrity research.
