Calling for stories from the past
2007 marks two significant events in the history of Australia's defence science – it is the 100th anniversary of the appointment of the first defence scientist in this country; it also marks 60 years of defence science at DSTO's Edinburgh site, north of Adelaide.

- DSTO History
To commemorate these events, DSTO is seeking input from former employees for a history based on their experience, irrespective of which DSTO site they worked at.
Have you an interesting reminiscence from your time working with DSTO or its predecessor organisations such as LRWE, WRE, DRCS, ARL, MRL or RANRL?
It can be about a project, a program of work, achievement, significant developments, something interesting about the site where you worked or even the interesting, eccentric or brilliant people you worked with. Please keep your comments and stories positive. There are no limits on numbers of words.
How to Contribute to the DSTO History
There are two ways to send in your material. You can email it to dstohistory@dsto.defence.gov.au along with your name, the site where you worked and approximate period when you were employed there.
Alternatively, you can add your material directly to the DSTO History Wiki.
What is a wiki?
Wikis are a type of website that uses a collaborative contribution approach. They are designed to encourage numerous people to collaborate together to develop a body of knowledge. In this case it is a history of DSTO as told by the past and current staff of DSTO and its predecessor organisations.
You can add your own material and create pages within the wiki. However, expect your work to be modified, edited, deleted or challenged by other contributors.
You can also upload images and documents to the wiki.
You can access the DSTO History Wiki at this address: http://history.dsto.defence.gov.au
Please note that it requires you to become an authorised user with a username and password. This is principally to ensure that we can reduce vandalism of the site and the posting of inappropriate, classified or sensitive material to a government computer server.
How do I register to use the wiki?
You can register online at http://history.dsto.defence.gov.au.
Click on the register for an account text.
Otherwise, please send an email to dstohistory@dsto.defence.gov.au requesting an account (and suggesting a username and password).
We look forward to receiving your anecdotes.
