The survivability of a ship is a combination of its susceptibility (the likelihood of the ship being detected and hit by a weapon), its vulnerability (the ability to withstand damage) and its recoverability (the ability to control damage and recover all or part of its capabilities). DSTO is involved in all elements of survivability research and is working to link these three elements together.
