DSTO is playing a key role in the implementation of Network-Centric Warfare (NCW) in the Australian Defence Force (ADF), providing essential scientific and technological support in the areas of:

  • Intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR)
  • Communications
  • Human computer interfaces
  • Decision support tools

Through its research, DSTO will maximise the ADF's NCW capability by providing the ADF with access to superior, real-time situation awareness; ensuring the secure sharing of information across organisational and geographic boundaries; and enabling the synchronisation of ADF actions.

DSTO has an extensive list of publications concerning network-centric warfare.  For NCW-related papers by DSTO, search the Publications Pages on this website using key words of "network", "centric", "ncw", "enabled", "C4ISR" and "interoperability".
