DSTO Research Hubs
The hubs were created to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and concepts in the various fields as well as to facilitate the coordination of research efforts across the DSTO divisions.
Five research hubs have been established at DSTO:
- RF (Radio Frequency) Hub, established 1996
- OE (Opto-electronics) Hub, established 1996
- HS (Human Sciences) Hub, established 1998
- Sim (Simulation) Hub, established 2001
- OR (Operations Research) Hub, established 2003
The broad objectives are to:
- Facilitate the coordination of research efforts across DSTO Divisions.
- Maintain the scientific excellence of research.
- Enhance the interaction between researchers at DSTO, universities, industry and the CSIRO.
- Assist in the strategic planning of research at DSTO.
- Influence the Long Range Research plan, major equipment and facility plans.
- Develop the skill base at DSTO.
- Bring wider scientific expertise to bear on difficult problems.
Membership of the hubs is based on the technology interests of DSTO staff with professional or technical interests in the areas of radio frequency, opto-electronics, human factors, simulation and operations research.
Each hub brings together communities of researchers working in related areas.
