The aim of the Human Systems Integration (HSI) function area within the Human Sciences Hub is to foster the development of and application of HSI practices across Defence and within Defence acquisition particularly.

Human Systems Integration (HSI) is a process to integrate human needs and requirements into the capability lifecycle. It allows human risks to be managed by making the human consequences visible when project trade-off decisions are made.
HSI provides planning and coordination of Human Factors Engineering, Crewing, Personnel, Training, Health, Safety and Survivability activities within the capability development process.
