Dr Greg Bain

Dr Greg Bain is currently Acting Chief Platforms at the Defence Science and Technology Group.

He is also the Research Leader of the Aerospace Combat Performance S&T Capability within the Platforms Division of DSTG. In this role, he leads four research teams in Aerial Autonomy, Aerodynamics, Flight Mechanics, and Infrared Simulation and Assessment, covering research programs focussed on the development, test and evaluation (RDT&E) of teaming un-crewed air vehicles (UAVs); he is also the DSTG lead for Project DEF6014 (MQ-28A Ghost Bat).

Previously, Greg has led research programs focused on aircraft IR and RF signatures and has held the Canberra-based position of Air Force Scientific Adviser, where he had a key liaison role between the Royal Australian Air Force and the broader S&T community, and for which he received an Air Force commendation.

Dr Greg Bain has a BSc (HONS 1st Class) in Mathematics, M. Eng. in Mechanical Engineering (Aeroacoustics), and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sydney as well as a Graduate Certificate in Applied Language (Indonesian) from RMIT University.
