Dr Ninh Duong

Dr Ninh Duong is the Chief of Air and Maritime at the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG).

In this role, Ninh is responsible for delivering the innovation, science and technology program to the Royal Australian Navy, Royal Australian Air Force and other air and maritime stakeholders, including the Australian Submarine Agency.

Ninh was previously the Minister-Counsellor Defence Science and Technology at the Embassy of Australia in Washington DC, where he represented the Chief Defence Scientist in the United States and Canada in strategic engagements to support defence science and technology collaboration.

Before his posting to the United States of America, Ninh was the Program Leader Science Strategy and Policy, where he was responsible for developing and implementing strategy, supporting science policy and assuring science capability. He was also the Research Leader Weapon Systems Technologies where he led research relevant to weapons sensing and targeting, assured delivery of effects including information processing and guidance, stand-off detection and neutralisation of improvised threats, directed energy technologies, and collaborative weapon concepts.

Ninh was awarded First Class Honours in a Bachelor of Electrical/Electronic Engineering Degree and a Ph.D. in Microwave and Millimetre Wave Technology in 1994 and 1998, respectively, from the University of Adelaide. He joined the Defence Science and Technology Group in 1998 where he began his career as a specialist in hardware-in-the-loop missile testing technologies.
